Refugees, IDPs, and Asylum Seekers often flee the same conflict, but their legal status differs based on Boundaries.

Crossed Border

Someone who has been forced to migrate to avoid potential threat to life, and has crossed an international border.

Protected by UN

IDP

Internal

Internally Displaced Person. Forced to move for similar political reasons as a refugee but has NOT crossed an international border.

Stuck in Country

Asylum Seeker

Applicant

Someone who has migrated to another country in the hope of being recognized as a refugee, but the legal status is not yet granted.
